The cornerstone of the Get Real language course is the interactive DVDs in English, Spanish and Bulgarian.  These feature video sequences and language exercises to help estate agents practise the type of language they will need in property transactions.

The course has been devised with the advice and participation of practising estate agents and the national associations of estate agents in the United Kingdom, in Spain and in Bulgaria.  The scenes in the videos focus on typical transactions estate agents use in their work.

The course also looks at typical features of property of interest to foreign buyers and sellers in each of the countries being filmed.  In this way, it aims to overcome cultural differences and explain unique practices and vocabulary in each country .

Academic experts in language teaching and course design have created interactive exercises to practise the phrases and vocabulary which estate agents will hear and use.   They can improve their language skills by viewing, listening to and imitating the language on the video and by reading and reproducing the language in the DVD.

Assessment tasks in each unit ask the learner to consolidate what they have learnt and to put it into writing or speaking practice.  Successful study with the DVD and related courses will then be certified by the national association.

The English language DVD assumes the estate agent has an intermediate level of English already, and will be aimed at the Upper Intermediate student of English.

The Spanish DVD is aimed at people who already have a basic knowledge of Spanish, and will be geared towards those at Lower Intermediate level.  Learners with no previous knowledge of Spanish will need to take a beginners' course first to introduce them to the basics of the language.

The Bulgarian DVD for real estate agents is aimed at intermediate level.  The GET REAL team, however, has also produced an Introductory Course for Bulgarian for Foreigners – with a Focus on Real Estate.  This introductory textbook and accompanying DVD of audio clips and videos will introduce the learner to the basics of Bulgarian.  This course can be used by individuals in independent study or by teachers leading a class, and will take absolute beginners to the level where they can start the intermediate Bulgarian course for Estate Agents.  The Bulgarian introductory course and intermediate DVD for Real Estate Agents are available both separately and together as one package.
