The attitude and interest towards foreign language training among real estate brokers topped the agenda of meetings between representatives of the National Real Property Association and members of the regional structures in Bourgas and Varna at the end of February. She visited this Black Sea city to present the advantages of the specialist language tools developed by the GET REAL Lingua project which NRPA was involved in. She gave the presentation in Bourgas to 30 regional agents before moving on to Varna where she spoke to representatives of another 35 agencies. English-speaking estate agents operating in Bulgaria also have the same opportunity to improve their Bulgarian through the GET REAL language DVDs and courses aimed specifically at those involved in property transactions. The president of the NRPA in Sofia, Latchezar Iskrov, then outlined the need to continue implementing of the project by organizing further courses and training opportunities for Bulgarian agents.
The final celebration of the completion of the GET REAL Lingua project took place in Sofia on February 27th. More than 20 estate agents viewed the finished products produced by the project’s university partners – the language DVD courses in English, Spanish and Bulgarian and the trilingual dictionary focusing on property terms.

NRPA hopes to organise some more intensive English courses for Bulgarian estate agents in the future, similar to the pilot course which took place in Sofia in November 2008. They are currently looking at possible locations and formats for the courses, as well as the cost and the length.
One thing is certain, however. Bulgarian estate agents recognize their need for English, and have shown a keen interest in improving their professional language skills by means of these new GET REAL Lingua materials.
