English course in Sofia a success

First English course for Bulgarian estate agents a real winner

GET REAL Lingua offered its first taught course in Sofia, the Bulgarian capital, in November 2008.   The five-day intensive English course was taught by the author of the English materials, Gill Outterside of the University of Wolverhampton, who had written the DVD course as well as the teaching materials.  

Eli Moneva, Vice-President of the NRPA, the Bulgarian National Real Property Association, had organised the course in Sofia.  The course could have been filled several times over, such was the interest from estate agents in Bulgaria to improve their English when they learned it would focus primarily on language they needed in their everyday work.                                                    Two of the participating estate agents at the course in Sofia

The twenty Bulgarian estate agents who took part were all very pleased with the course.  When asked what they liked about the course, these were just some of the comments from the course’s participants:

• All the course went well.  I received more than I was expecting.  I have learnt many new words and phrases in the area of real estate market.  I’m feeling much more confident now than before; the coursebook is made with a high professionalism and competence.
• Everything was very interesting and I found this language course very useful; It was a pleasure for me to attend this class.
• All was very good on the whole; it was easy going, but gave good vocabulary, specific statements and good grammar.  It was useful; teacher was very good too.  Also very good were the forms in the book for the different activities.
• All materials were excellent, and we learned and saw how our colleagues in the UK work
• All the exercises were very good and well done, vocabulary especially; we were lucky to have an English teacher

It is hoped that the course can be offered again in Bulgaria to accommodate more of the estate agents who were not able to take part this time.  

Gill Outterside is to be congratuated for creating and writing such an effective and successful course, both the DVD and the coursebook.
